What is an active message?+
An active message is protected, monitored, and eligible to be delivered if your trusted person confirms something has happened to you. Saved messages remain in your account, but inactive messages are not eligible for delivery.
What is the Care Card?+
Your Care Card helps your loved ones know where to go if they ever need to release your messages.
How many people can receive one message?+
On the Complete plan, each active message can be sent to up to 5 recipients. This is useful if you want one message to go to your family or a small group of loved ones at once.
Can my trusted person read my messages?+
No. Your trusted person cannot read, edit, delete, or preview your messages. They can only confirm and begin the release process.
Are messages sent immediately?+
No. When your trusted person confirms, a 24-hour safety delay begins. You are notified and can cancel the release if there has been a mistake.
Can I edit my messages?+
Yes. You can unlock, edit, and update your messages anytime while your account and plan are active.
Is this a legal will or estate planning service?+
No. If I Die is for personal messages to loved ones. Do not use it for passwords, banking information, crypto seed phrases, legal instructions, emergency medical information, or estate planning documents.
Can I recover deleted messages after 30 days?+
No. Once extra messages are permanently deleted, they cannot be recovered.
Is this billed monthly or annually?+
Paid plans are billed annually. We show the monthly equivalent to make the price easier to understand, but you pay once per year.
Can I cancel anytime?+
Yes. You can cancel renewal anytime. Your plan remains active until the end of your paid annual term.
What happens when my annual plan ends?+
If your plan does not renew, your free message stays active. Any extra paid messages become inactive and are scheduled for deletion after 30 days unless you reactivate.
Will my free message be deleted?+
No. Your free message remains active even if you cancel your paid plan or do not renew.
Does my account close after my messages are sent?+
Yes. Once your active messages have been delivered, your account is closed and archived. This helps make sure the release process has a clear ending.
