What we store

We store the information needed to create and operate your If I Die account, including:

• Your account information, such as your name, email address, and login details
• The messages you write
• The recipients you choose, including their name, email address, and phone number
• The Trusted People you designate, including their name, email address, and phone number
• Your plan, subscription status, and billing-related information
• Message status information, such as whether a message is draft, active, inactive, scheduled for release, sent, or deleted
• Delivery and notification records, such as whether an email or text message was sent successfully

We use this information only to provide the If I Die service, including saving your messages, managing your Trusted People, notifying recipients if you choose, and delivering active messages if the release process is completed.

Mobile Information and SMS Consent

If you provide your mobile phone number and opt in to receive text messages from If I Die, we use your phone number only to send transactional messages related to your account, message notifications, Trusted Person invitations, message release alerts, safety-delay notifications, account check-ins, billing/account updates, and other service-related notifications.

SMS consent is optional. You can use If I Die without opting into text messages.

We do not sell, rent, share, or disclose your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in consent data to third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.

You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP. You can get help by replying HELP. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies.

Who can read your messages

Only you can read the content of your messages while you are alive. Your trusted person cannot read, download, edit, or preview any of your messages. Recipients only receive their message after your trusted person confirms your passing and the 24-hour safety delay has elapsed without cancellation.

Security

All data is protected by row-level security in Supabase. Media is stored in a private bucket accessible only to you. Payment details are never stored by us — Stripe handles all card data.

Logs

We keep email delivery logs and an internal audit log of sensitive actions (message created, released, cancelled, etc.). We do not log the contents of your messages.

Deletion

You can delete any message, recipient, or trusted contact at any time from your dashboard. Deleting your account removes all associated data.
